Fiesta!

Last Monday was a Fiesta.  I believe it was dedicated to the Virgin de la Rosaria.  Monday there was a special mass and then a procession.  All the women were invited to wear their traditional outfits.  We went out and took photos of the procession and of some of the women in their 'trajes gitana'.  It ended up like a short parade where they hauled the 6,000 lb figure of the Virgin along the 'parade route'.  (She is covered in a lot of silver and they practice a lot before they move these effigies because it requires lots of coordination to do it without injuring someone or dumping her on the ground.)  We have enjoyed watching the horses being ridden up an down our street all week.  Here are some of those photos!

Here is some of the procession

The Virgin of the rosary

Remember, she is about 6,000 lbs.  They move it with a kind of swaying motion before they start walking.  Cool to watch!

Gorgeous flamencas of all kinds are watching the procession

So cute!

This one was in the procession

The horses weren't in the procession, but were all around all day.  They were gorgeous too!

All ages and kinds of ladies dressed up for the occasion.

She is riding SIDESADDLE!  How cool is that?  Her horse isn't a calm one either.

Aren't they darling!

We have a new sister in the office but I will wait till next week to bring you up to date. Have a great week.
