Teleferico

From our first days driving to Fuengirola, we have been curious about the tram ride or Teleferico  which we drove past each trip.  We were told there was a bird show at the top, but were never quite curious enough to get more info.  Our dear Elder D decided to plan a p-day for us and made all the arrangements, including lunch.  All we had to do was show up and pay our fare.  It was so much fun. 

The tram leaves from a city at the foot of the mountain and climbs to almost the top.  You can see a tram car just about to finish its trip up in this photo

 

 

 They had a couple of horses perform, they were beautiful but not nearly as accomplished as the ones we saw in Jerez.  Then we went to see the 'bird show'.

Elder D, the Coombs who are taking over in the office, and in back, Elder B and well you know My Elder!

This gentleman announced the show in both Spanish and English. 

They started the show with the vultures.  It was interesting to watch them come hopping out onto the 'stage'.  They almost seemed like dogs.  They did some education as well as a few tricks, then had a bird hop from arm to extended arm of audience members.  He stopped on my arm too but I didn't photograph that of course.

It was really cool actually.  I loved it! 

Then they flew the raptors.



 He warned everyone to put away any stuffed animals before they started.  Then they signaled the flacon and pulled a fox skin on a string across the stage.  Here is the strike!  It was very powerful and impressive.

 Afterwards the had some of the birds outside of their cages  and this guy was willing to show off for the crowd.

 After the show we had lunch and then took a small hike on up to the top of the mountain.  It was a hazy day so the view wasn't as beautiful as it could have been but still memorable.
